A federal judge dismissed most of Blake Lively's sexual harassment lawsuit against her "It Ends with Us" co-star Justin Baldoni on Thursday, throwing out 10 of 13 allegations in the high-profile Hollywood legal battle.
Judge Lewis Liman in Manhattan federal court left intact three claims against Baldoni — breach of contract, retaliation, and aiding and abetting in retaliation — which will proceed to civil trial on May 18. The dismissed allegations included harassment and defamation claims that formed the core of Lively's original lawsuit filed in December 2024.
The ruling represents a significant setback for Lively, who accused Baldoni of sexual harassment on set and orchestrating a smear campaign to destroy her reputation. Baldoni, who directed and starred opposite Lively in the domestic violence drama, denied the allegations and filed his own counter-lawsuit, which was dismissed by a judge last year.

In his 152-page opinion, Judge Liman cited jurisdictional issues as a primary reason for dismissing the harassment claims. He ruled that allegations under California law could not proceed because the alleged misconduct occurred during filming in New Jersey, not California, failing to establish the "substantial connection" required for the claims.
The BBC presents the ruling as a significant legal setback for Lively while emphasizing her team's intention to continue fighting the remaining claims. Coverage focuses on the technical legal reasons for dismissal rather than taking sides on the underlying allegations.
