Majid Khademi, head of intelligence for Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps, was killed Monday in overnight airstrikes on Tehran carried out by US and Israeli forces. The death of one of Iran's most senior intelligence officials marks the latest high-profile casualty in the escalating conflict that began February 28.
The Revolutionary Guards confirmed Khademi's death in a statement, describing him as the "powerful and educated" chief who was killed in what they termed a "criminal terrorist attack by the American-Zionist enemy." Israeli forces also claimed to have killed Yazdan Mir, known by his alias Sardar Bagheri, who headed the IRGC Quds Force's clandestine Unit 840.
Khademi had assumed leadership of the IRGC's Intelligence Organization in 2025 after his predecessor Mohammad Kazemi was killed in Israeli strikes. Before his appointment, he headed the Guards' Intelligence Protection Organisation, responsible for internal surveillance and counter-intelligence operations. The IRGC intelligence arm operates as one of Iran's most powerful security bodies, often working parallel to the civilian intelligence ministry.

The strikes were part of broader attacks across Iran that killed more than 25 people according to reports.
